2007 Shirley
For a long time Shirley, who has Multiple Sclerosis, has had a difficult time just getting out of bed, let alone getting outside of her house. Days after receiving her manual wheelchair from Alternatives in Motion, Shirley and her family were able to attend a local festival, something they had not done together in years.

2007 Noberto
Imagine raising two children and not being able to participate in all of their activities. For Noberto, he had to face this difficult situation every day as it was to hard for him to walk even short distances, let alone take his kids to the park or the mall. After having several surgeries on his legs and ankles Noberto knew he needed mobility assistance. He was referred to Alternatives in Motion in late August and we provided him with a manual wheelchair in early September. Noberto now keeps his wheelchair in the back of the family van and has it with him whenever he needs it. In January of '08 we were able to provide Noberto with a new power wheelchair for him to use while he is at work. The new chair gives him more independence to get around without causing more pain to his legs.
Noberto says he enjoys the mobility that enables him to spend time with his family. "The ability to get outside when I want to makes me feel like a kid with a new toy. Thanks to Alternatives in Motion from the bottom of my heart for what you do to help others. God bless you all."
