PEOPLE WE'VE HELPED
2003 Wheelchair Recipient Patricia Brown

In 1971 Patricia Brown, a patient with spastic Cerebral Palsy, fell and tore ligaments in her knees. Doctors operated in an attempt to allow her to walk again. Unfortunately the surgery didn’t work and Pat was left unable to walk, even with her leg braces.
In order to move around her apartment, Pat now uses a manual wheelchair donated by Alternatives in Motion. Before receiving this chair it was very difficult for Pat to get around because the older style power chair she was using was just too big.
Pat now uses her new chair to get around and take part in her hobbies. Indoors she enjoys working on her computer and doing crafts. But when the weather is nice she also is an avid gardener and loves working with her six rose bushes and her purple violets.
Pat’s current goals revolve around starting her own business, and selling Avon products part time. Pat said Alternatives in Motion does an excellent job in helping people find what they need. “It is such a great program,” Pat said.
