25th Annual Gene Filippis Golf Benefit helps Alternatives in Motion

6/2/09

Last night George and I had an opportunity to attend the 25th Annual Gene Filippis Memorial Golf Benefit at Great Oaks Country Club in Rochester, MI. Alternatives in Motion was selected as one of eight beneficiaries of this year's event.

Wright & Filippis has been a leader in the rehabilitative health care field for over 60 years and we are extremely thankful for the opportunity to participate in this event.  George and I had a great time getting to know the folks at Wright & Fillipis on a more personal level and we enjoyed running into other friends and supporters as well.

The relationships we have built with venders like Wright & Filippis continue to be prosperous for our mission. We are all like-minded individuals who have a passion for helping others and by combining our resources and knowledge we are able to help even more people in need.

We would like to give a special thank you to Mike Murray, Director of Marketing, Advertising & Communications, and to Sherri Szep, Events & Promotions Coordinator for inviting us to this year’s event and giving us the change to talk about our organization during the evening dinner program.

To all the golfers, sponsors, and Wright & Filippis staff, thank you for believing in Alternatives in Motion!

Golf Outing Update

5/27/09

It's been a busy week wrapping up the golf outing and making sure we got all the bills paid, and thank you notes sent out, but we are making progress. This year's golf outing was AMAZING! With green grass, blue sky, and bright sunshine, 60 golfers hit the links at Thornapple Pointe Golf Club to play in the 5th annual "What's Your Handicap?" Golf Classic.

We raised nearly $10,000 in cash proceeds and had over $6,000 worth of items donated for our raffle and silent auction. We continue to be amazed by the loyalty of our donors and supporters and we can’t say thank you enough to the folks that keep us moving forward. Thank you to all of our golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and the staff at Thornapple Pointe for an amazing event. Stay tuned, as we will announce next year’s date very soon!

Wheel Run Together Check Presentation

5/5/09

Recently Jody Mohle, 2009 Race Director for the Wheel Run Together, stopped by the office and presented a check for $2,481. Jody and her classmates in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Grand Valley State University planned the 13th annual 5k & 10k run that benefits Alternatives in Motion. More than 125 runners participated in this year's event.

A new starting venue featured the beautiful Laker Turf facility and a change in the course brought runners into Lubber’s Stadium for a lap around the track. We would like to thank Jody, her classmates, the corporate sponsors, and all of the runners who showed up to support Alternatives in Motion.

See you next year!

Up and Running

5/4/09

You may have noticed some pages on the site have not been updated in awhile, or perhaps you even saw a few pages that weren't working at all. Everything should be back up and running now after we moved our entire site and emails to a new server.

This doesn't mean a whole lot to most of you, but for us it means we now have full access to our site and to our servers so it will be even easier for upgrades and maintenance. We've also saved a little money by having our website and emails hosted in one location with the same server.

We apologize if there was any inconvenience with the site outage over the last few days. If you had difficulty signing up for the Electronic Newsletter or the "What's Your Handicap?" Golf Classic, both pages are back up and running.
