ABOUT ALTERNATIVES IN MOTION

Alternatives in Motion is all about mobility. Specifically, we firmly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in society and not be hindered by mobility issues.
The Mission: Provide wheelchairs to people who need them but cannot afford them, and who don't qualify for any other financial assistance.
The Purpose of the Mission: Help individuals improve and maintain their dignity and quality of life through mobility assistance
History
Money just shouldn't be an issue when it comes to mobility needs and other healthcare concerns. But unfortunately, it is.
If your insurance company agreed to pay for only one surgery during your life, and you had your tonsils out when you were 5, what do you do when your 40-year-old gall bladder acquires enough stones to sink both it and you to the bottom of a lake? Apply that scenario to someone who needs a wheelchair but whose insurance will only pay for one chair for the duration of his or her life.
Worse yet, what if that person doesn't have any insurance at all? What then? Wheelchairs are expensive!
We at Alternatives in Motion firmly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in society and not be hindered by mobility issues. And to put the money where our beliefs are, Johnnie Tuitel (pronounced "Title") founded Alternatives in Motion in 1995. Through fundraising efforts, we provide new made-to-order wheelchairs and other mobility devices to people who need them.
And we're succeeding. Check out our Milestones, and you'll see that we're on a roll (forgive the pun).
