ABOUT ALTERNATIVES IN MOTION
How We Help

Vendors make sure the
equipment is properly fitted
to the user.

George Ranville and Johnnie
Tuitel get the message out about
Alternatives in Motion and
disabilities, in general.
We help in tangible (I-can-touch-it) ways—ways that produce those intangible good feelings that come from helping people. Some of the hubs and spokes (a little wheelchair lingo) of how we help follow:
- We overcome financial obstacles by fundraising on behalf of people who need but don't know how to get a wheelchair.
- We partner with foundations, schools, businesses and service organizations to raise money for wheelchairs and awareness about disabilities, in general.
- We get on a first-name basis with vendors so they know who we are. We also know who they are in case we need to refer somebody.
- We often help people find resources with regard to structural needs within their home, i.e., ramps and other devices that help make a home accessible.
We educate the public about disabilities, and teach that a wheelchair doesn't define a person. It's merely a vehicle that gets a person from point A to point B.
